  1. Why are we supporting Haiti?
There are hundreds of thousands of children in Haiti and a majority don't have a source of food, shelter or comfort. It is not unusual to see children roaming the dirty streets and dirt roads with, literally, no hope for a future. The people of Haiti are dealing with so many problems that they simply have little ability to pay attention to the children of Haiti. As part of our commitment to human and social value, we’re partnering with Ecole de Choix to bring education, the possibility of choice, and the promise of a brighter future to Haiti’s children. Sad experience meant that we had to leave Haiti in 2015. But we didn’t give up and, thanks to the tireless efforts of the BCD Travel Foundation, the Haiti Project is stronger than ever!

  2. Why are we supporting a new school?
The lack of educational opportunities in Haiti is three-fold: shortage of funds for teachers, lack of educational facilities, and the country's economic reliance on agriculture, which values child labor more than a child's education. L’Ecole de Choix firmly believes that a quality education provides individuals with the fundamental tools to affirm individual dignity through the choices they make.  Choice and autonomy grant us our dignity. And it’s that dignity that assures each of us the very heart of our humanity, both in the way we are responsible for ourselves, as well as for the communities we live in.  It's in this way that education becomes the pathway to our humanity.

  3. Is the school safe?
Yes. Sad experience has shown us that working in developing countries will always carry some level of risk. But we're confident in the credentials, credibility, and strong grassroots support of L’Ecole de Choix. The local community of Boyer has been a full partner in the construction, creation and development of the school.

  7. Is it safe to make my contribution online? How can I be sure that my personal information will be secure?
Yes. PayPal uses information encryption to communicate between your computer and theirs. This is shown by their URL, it starts with "https:" The "s" means secure. The Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers also show a sealed lock in the lower right hand corner of the screen. They use the "Secure Sockets Layer" protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits. This is the safest communication method available and is the system used by banks. The PayPal server "is heavily guarded both physically and electronically." PayPal also offers purchase protection. You can see more information about PayPal’s safety and security policy here.
